LAF
LAF
In Laminar Airflow (LAF) systems, airflow can be categorized as vertical or horizontal based on the direction in which purified air moves through the workspace. Vertical LAF directs air from the top of the enclosure downward in a uniform flow, ensuring contaminants are pushed toward the floor and removed efficiently. This design is ideal for applications requiring high sterility, such as pharmaceutical and microbiological work. On the other hand, horizontal LAF moves air in a parallel direction from a HEPA filter at the back of the unit toward the front, providing a consistent airflow across the workspace. Horizontal LAF is often used in laboratories where user comfort and minimized turbulence are priorities. Both airflow types help maintain a clean environment, with the choice depending on the specific application and contamination control requirements.
